Web App for TravelerBuddy

Role: UX Designer (Solo)
Responsibilities: Concept, Wireframes, Prototype, UI

I worked on the design of a desktop and mobile application. This was an innovative, time-saving, easy-to-use trip planner application. I used multiple tools to achieve different levels of prototype fidelity and animation for this project.

OBJECTIVE
Create an innovative, time-saving, easy-to-use trip planner application.

APPROACH AND PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS
I enhance the app by

  • Reducing friction - didn’t make the user go through cumbersome tutorials or have them take time out for reading long text explanations.
  • Adding Onboarding. People tend to confuse the goal of onboarding; they think the goal is to ‘get the user set up’, when it is actually to ‘convert users to power users’. The moment when the user has successfully used the product to accomplish a task, and has seen the fruits of their labors.
  • Providing guidance is not only a way to ease the users into the product, but it also provides a golden opportunity to add value to their experience, and enhance their perspective of the service.
  • Making the forms easier to fill up - checking every platform for iOS, Android and Web with their native usage so I could design the forms better and make their selections and filling up forms easier. Whether it is a signup flow, a multi-view stepper, or a monotonous data entry interface, forms are one of the most important components of digital product design. Omit optional fields and think of other ways to collect data. Always ask yourself if the question can be inferred, postponed, or completely excluded. Data entry is increasingly automated. For example, mobile and wearable devices collect large amounts of data without the user’s conscious awareness. Think of ways you can leverage social, conversational UI, SMS, email, voice, OCR, location, fingerprint, biometric, etc.
